How Are We?

Lending A Supporting Hand (L.A.S.H.) Foundation, Inc. began with a deep-seated passion and commitment from Badia Shephard, who was profoundly impacted by witnessing the challenges faced by homeless individuals, especially women and Veteran families. Drawing on her own experiences and a background rich in nonprofit work, Badia saw the urgent need for an organization that could provide not only immediate relief but also a sustainable path toward self-sufficiency. With a heart for service and a drive to make a tangible difference, she founded L.A.S.H. in Baltimore, MD.

Who we are?

History About Us

The organization started as a small grassroots initiative, initially focusing on providing emergency assistance and basic necessities. However, it quickly became evident that a more holistic approach was needed to address the complex issues faced by the homeless community. As L.A.S.H. expanded, so did its range of services, which began to include transitional housing, case management, educational programs, job training, and life skills workshops. This comprehensive support aimed to empower individuals to regain their independence and secure a stable future. Recognizing the growing demand and the unique challenges faced by the Veteran community, L.A.S.H. extended its reach to Las Vegas, NV. This expansion allowed the foundation to provide specialized services for Veteran families, offering them the respect and support they deserved. The journey of L.A.S.H. is a testament to Badia's vision and dedication, reflecting a steadfast belief in the potential of every person to overcome adversity. The foundation's origins are rooted in compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of those in need, serving as a beacon of hope for many.
